About Susan Muller

History and Education

Susan Muller grew up in Poughkeepsie, NY.  As a child she always loved the companionship of her animals.  Her mother always said yes to the teachers throughout grade school when she asked if she could adopt a gerbil from a litter born in the classroom.  There were always guinea pigs, mice, gerbils, hamsters, rabbits, cats and dogs living in the house because of this driving love she had for the animals.  Especially dogs.

Susan graduated from the Broome-Tioga BOCES Animal Science Program in 1995 where she earned certification in Pet Grooming, Veterinary Assistant, Kennel management and Pet Shop Operations.  The scholarship that she was awarded after participating in the program aided her in starting her career.

After finishing her schooling at BOCES, Susan needed to decide on a name for her newly forming grooming business.  At the time, Susan lived with 3 dogs, 2 guinea pigs, 3 rabbits, a bird, and a cat.  Many names came to mind, but being a fan of the old Doctor Doolittle movie, she felt that the love she had for these animals was an equivalent to that of the character in the movie.  So, with a little play on words, Doctor Suelittle became the chosen name-- pun intended.  (The younger generation doesn't quite get it.)

Susan groomed out of her home as a part-time hobby in the beginning. Her part-time hobby has turned into a thriving full-time business.  Her love for the dogs, and the need for the service in the area, keeps her busy throughout the year.  Because of the extreme demand for her services, grooming is by appointment only.  No walk-in service is available.  Sorry, no cats.

Susan keeps up on the latest technology and styles by attending grooming and health related seminars regularly. 

Susan has worked as a veterinary assistant, and is highly recommended in the area as a pet professional in the grooming industry.
